Today we have some kids birthday cake ideas to get you thinking about the next cake you’ll make. Ordering a cake from a supermarket is such a no-no and you know which ones I’m talking about: the quarter slab 60% icing monstrosities kids seem to love… Okay, if someone handed me a piece of Costco cake I wouldn’t turn it down but I also wouldn’t feel very good about it. And yes… I would probably have seconds – but only because I want to make sure I’ve had my fix and won’t touch another slab cake for another couple months.
Then the cycle repeats…
The point to my long rambling story is that you have no idea what is going into those birthday cakes and neither do I. It’s a lot safer and healthier to make a cake in your own kitchen with ingredients you can control without the added preservatives. Heck, you can switch out the white flour for wheat flour and find healthier alternatives to sweeten to frosting and the cake, why not?
